The concept for this Warwickshire wedding editorial was spring colour, showcasing elegant and refined styling with lots of colour.
Sailcloth marquee weddings are always beautiful, but filling such a grand space can feel daunting for couples. Colour plays a crucial role in creating an inviting and warm atmosphere, that is also luxury in appeal.
As marquee wedding florists, this is the type of brief we love to work on!
Fillongley Hall weddings
Fillongley Hall is a grand Georgian mansion nestled in a charming village in the Warwickshire countryside. This beautiful country house wedding venue offers indoor ceremonies for 90 people in the grand entrance hall, complete with red marble pillars. In fact, we recently showcased a stunning indoor ceremony design at Fillongley Hall, highlighting how floral elements can enhance the elegance of the space. Alternatively, couples can opt for outdoor ceremonies in one of the estate’s stunning locations, such as the lawn, bowling green, or woodland, with a capacity of up to 200 guests.
After the ceremony, guests can explore the estate or enjoy drinks on the terrace, admiring panoramic views of the rolling hills.
The marquee reception is just a short walk across the lawn. A sailcloth marquee by Sami Tipi complements the house’s grandeur, and yet the roof’s curves with the pennants flying in the wind creates another feeling altogether.
After the wedding breakfast, you can relax and enjoy the sunset from the cosy sofas at the back of the marquee, or indulge in late-night nibbles from a barbecue or food truck.
The flowers: flower table runners & floral pillars
Working closely with the stylist, we created a lush and luxurious flower table runner for the long banquet-style tables. The base design of lilac napkins, runners, and sashes allowed the pink, peach, and orange flowers to shine through. Balancing the tones across your suppliers is key to achieving a coherent final look.
We used bowls, low trays, and bud vases to build the flower runner, leaving enough space for candles and wine glasses. The arrangement was grounded on the table, creating a full and luxurious feel while allowing tall dancing stems like sweet peas and poppies to add elegance and drama without obstructing conversation.
For the round tables, we added central bowls with the same flowers used in the flower table runner, introducing a little extra orange and peach to balance the cooler tone of the lilac linens.
The floral pillars at the entrance made a dramatic statement, greeting guests as they approached the marquee. These pillars, created with abundant light foliage and pops of colour, echoed the greenery of the lawn and added to the outdoor garden feel. The colour palette was pared back to lilac and yellow here, allowing the tablescape to truly shine.
Flower choices: the best of British spring blooms
This editorial took place in early April, with a slow cold start to the British grown season. o ensure an abundance of spring wedding flower arrangements, the design was a mix of British-grown and imported flowers. The British-grown selection included:
- Ranunculus – the queen of spring flowers. Layers and layers of ruffly petals in a whole rainbow of colours
- Tulips – double-petalled, peony-looking pink perfection
- Geums – small round faces of colour on the most delicate dancing stems
- Birch tree – delicate and airy branched foliage with teardrop-shaped leaves
- Apple mint – a fuzzy foliage perfect for a bouquet with a fresh scent
- Lilac – in colour and in name! A country garden tree with the most sweetly scented flowers
